Munich is once again becoming the center of international diplomacy. The MSC, founded in 1963, is one of the world's most important forums for international security policy. Each year, decision-makers use the conference as a platform for strategic speeches, diplomatic talks, and discreet negotiations behind closed doors. In times of geopolitical tension, its significance has only grown.

BR24 will stream selected panels of the 62nd Munich Security Conference at BR24.de. You can find the livestream here.

Saturday: War in Ukraine and Transatlantic Ties

Saturday’s program is dominated by debates on the international order and transatlantic relations. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will speak on the role of the United States in global affairs. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney are set to follow with a discussion on the future of the international order.

Ukraine remains a central topic. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte are expected to address Europe’s security architecture amid Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine. Later, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Polands Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski will take part in further discussions on Ukraine and European security.

Sunday: Europe’s Role in a Changing World

On Sunday, the focus shifts to Europe’s strategic autonomy and competitiveness. EU high Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas will open the day with a session on Europe’s room for maneuver. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is expected to discuss Europe’s competitiveness.

How resilient is the international order? Can multilateral institutions withstand mounting pressure? And what role will Europe play in a world marked by power rivalry and shifting alliances? Over three days the speaker and visitors of MSC 2026 will try to find answers.

Das ist die Europäische Perspektive bei BR24.
